Night vision monocular? Cheap, reliable, good magnification, and illumintaion.... anything come to mind? Navy Wife replied: "You can buy one at any sporting goods store. We sold them at Big 5, I've seen them at Sports Authority and Sport Chalet."
sgt c replied: "look at cheaperthandirt.com" Whats the best Generation II Night Vision Monocular? I am looking for the best night vision monocular for under $1000. Any ideas? stealth replied: "Look on E-Bay..." What is a good entry-level night vision monocular for around the house? Just want it around the house primarily for when I travel and my wife hears "bumps in the night" and wants to scan the house perimeter to ensure no one is outside the house. Thanks! flapjack replied: "Right........................
Pesky restraining order Huh.
These are a first gen and run just a few hundred. 3,4 gen run lots more but are really good for situations where you would encounter bright light with scattered darkness. These unless in very dark conditions are just a novelty.
I think you are better off with motion detectors with flood lights, and a fur coated razor blade, aka big mean dog." Does any one have any feed back on the Bushnell Night vision monocular? I saw one at Sams Club for 150Bucks and was thinking of getting one. Poet W. replied: "For generation 1 stuff they're not bad. The range is pretty good but I couldn't see hardly anything without the IR light on. But once you turn that on it works very well. Battery life is better than average too. Oh, and with the IR light on, to other people wearing night vision gear it'll look like you're shinning a flashlight."
crop13b replied: "The only NV really worth getting are gen 2 and above." Where can you buy night vision monoculars in melbourne? i need to know where to find night vision or (preferably) thermal imaging goggles cheap soon in melbourne, victoria! help? Nightrider replied: "You can find both for sale on eBay. Night vision isn't too expensive but wait till you see what thermal imaging sells at. No such animal as "cheap" thermal imaging.
I hope this helps and you can find it useful" whats the best cheap night vision monocular? i just want a cheap not too crappy one for airsoft Truth Seeker replied: "The first on the civilian market are called “Generation One”. And will be your most inexpensive.
I have several different brands. And some higher generation ones.
You can buy either hand held or the type that that goes on your head. Head mounts are either fixed, or can rotate them up above your eyes. I do prefer the ones that rotate.
Binoculars are also available.
These older models can be bought on places like e-bay for about 100-150. And would not recommend paying more. Most of the ones you will find will be imports. Russian ones are very common.
Also do a quick web search on night vision. Will find some very good links you can use to compare prices." Is it normal to for you to be temporarily unable to see in one eye after using a Night vision monocular? ? I traded a night vision scope to someone and they are wanting to back out of the trade now, stating that when they look use the Night Vision monocular for a few minutes, they take their eye away from the eye piece, and they are temporarily blind for about a minute in that eye. To me, this is normal, as it's happened to me using several different night vision devices, as well as a thermal imager monocular. He won't believe me that it's normal for it to happen, and he's now holding up our deal by waiting for a representative from the company that makes the monocular to contact him. What should I do? yagman replied: "Yes, it is normal. All night vision scopes work by dramatically amplifying the intensity of even very low light images. Being a monocular scope, the observer will get a significantly brightened view of the world only in the viewing eye. The non viewing eye will remain dark adapted while the viewing eye will loose its dark adaptation of the retinal pigments. When the monocular is brought away from the eye, therefore, the viewing eye will see very poorly in a true darkened environment until it has time to readapt to a dark environment." Does anyone know what light gain is for night vision? I'm buying a night vision monocular that has a light gain of 500. Is this good for a Generation 1 night vision device.
I live in a large city. So there's alot of ambient light. Would this help at all? Irv S replied: "Lacking moonlight, you will need an illuminator."
Nightrider replied: "That indicates a 500 times magnification. Generation 1 is quite old now, so you are getting something left over. If the price is right and you have the ambient light available, it might work for you. As a comparative, my 3rd generation night vision runs 20,000 times magnification. Overall, I wouldnt bother with a 500, but this just my humble opinion. I hope this helps you." |
